Ecosulis EIA & Planning Division Launched to Offer a More Cost Effective and Expert Environmental Planning Service With Extensive Experience of the Energy Sector

- Ecosulis is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year

Ecosulis is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year and is delighted to announce that Rod Ellison has joined Ecosulis as an Associate Director to set up its new department, specialising in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) & Planning. Rod is one of the UK’s leading energy sector EIA specialists and has gained his experience from working for one of the UK’s largest environmental consultancies and for an international power specialist. In recent years Rod has worked on some of the country’s largest energy projects.

Ecosulis’ EIA team have both academic qualifications and broad experience in the application of EIA techniques and environmental survey and stakeholder consultation methods. This experience has been gained in sectors as diverse as residential development, energy infrastructure and waste management. For the last five years Rod has worked almost exclusively in the energy sector and it is in this area that he is currently focusing.

Rod finds the complexity and importance of EIA projects fascinating and enjoys the challenge of facilitating development whilst balancing social, environmental and economic considerations. He is particularly passionate about the energy sector to:

  • Facilitate the delivery of new infrastructure to meet the predicted energy supply shortfall
  • be part of the de-carbonisation of our supply via supporting renewables

Ecosulis has been planning the establishment of the EIA division for a number of years. The main factor in deciding how to structure the team has been how best to align the new service with new and existing clients’ needs.  At the core of the new offering is the ethos of recruiting and retaining the best project managers.  The next layer of the approach is via understanding clients’ regulatory requirements to build a team that optimises the likelihood of securing consent. Inherent in the adopted approach is flexibility which keeps quotes competitive whilst providing clients with highly experienced and pragmatic teams.

My key driver is to build teams to deliver successful well considered projects.  My experience is that complex schemes really benefit from careful consideration of the EIA team that is put together at the onset of a project. I joined Ecosulis as they are pragmatic and a solutions focused organisation and allow me to build teams to suit a projects particular needs. Our clients benefit from reduced consenting risk, reduced development stage costs and improved planning submissions which are closely aligned with local environmental, social and economic considerations”, says Rod Ellison.
