Ecosulis is delighted to support the south west charity Countryside Mobility (www.countrysidemobility.org) by donating an 8GB iPod Touch as a prize at their open day in May to launch their exciting new Countryside Mobility scheme!
The Countryside Mobility scheme provides easy access to the countryside for people with disabilities living in and visiting South West England through a mobility scooter hire scheme.
The all terrain scooters enable people with limited mobility to easily access and enjoy environments that were previously difficult or impossible. There are now over 15 sites across the south west that are currently up and running including:
- Siblyback Lake Country Park, Cornwall
- Heddon Valley, Exmoor, Devon
- Durlston Country Park, Dorset
- Crickley Hill Country Park, Gloucestershire
In addition to the mobility scooters there are also a number of wheelyboats that enable wheelchair users to experience some of our beautiful countryside from the water! There are currently four sites in the south west with wheelyboats, including:
Countryside Mobility scheme is managed by Living Options Devon (LOD), a charitable organisation that exists to ensure people with physical and/or sensory disabilities and Deaf people with sign language can make an active and equal contribution in society. For more information visit www.livingoptions.org.
The scheme is being supported with a grant from Natural England as part of its Access to Nature programme, funded from the Big Lottery Fund’s Changing Spaces programme.
Promoting access to nature in any form is a great cause and Ecosulis wish the scheme the best of luck!
