Sydenham Hill Pond Works

Ecosulis recently completed a small project for London Wildlife Trust at Sydenham Hill.  Years of accumulated leaf litter and silt were removed from a pond increasing depth by almost a metre.  The banks of the pond were badly eroded and new revetments made from coconut fibre were installed to hold back the dredged silt.  These areas will be planted with a mix of native aquatic and marginal plants.

Other works completed on site was the cleaning out and re-profiling of a small stream and the creation of a small scrape.

The work was undertaken during ideal conditions in a week.  Visitors to the woodland were very interested in what was being done and this in conjunction with vegetation clearance around the pond should make a dramatic change to the look and feel of the pond.

The work has been jointly funded by SITA Trust and Dulwich Estates.
