The new Water Vole Mitigation Handbook has been published and includes changes to displacement and relocation methods. Our HCEC team have been helping Oxford University with a project comparing different displacements methods and their effectiveness for water vole mitigation. Our consulting and contracting teams spent a day undertaking water vole training in June.

The British Standard for Biodiversity BS42020 was published in 2013, however it is only just starting to filter into planning applications and is becoming increasing recognised as a standard to adhere to. This blog summarises the benefit of working to the standards.

Ecosulis are now offering a Pioneering Pre-Acquisition Rapid Risk Assessment to allow an initial site assessment to be made at the pre-acquisition stage. Ecology can have timing constraints and constraints to layouts, therefore it is important to engage with an ecologist at an early stage. Our rapid risk assessment can provide an initial assessment based on a desktop study, to aid with the pre-acquisition process before site access can be obtained.

There are a few ways of surveying for dormouse which include nest searches, hair tube surveys, live traps and dormouse nest boxes.
