There is an increasing optimism throughout Europe with the concept of rewilding that can benefit people as well as biodiversity. With an approval from Natural England to release beavers into the wild in England, this exciting approach takes a significant step forward.

It can be difficult to assess where habitat creation and restoration will be beneficial and most effective. The aim of Biodiversity 2020 is to increase priority habitats around the country by at least 200,000 ha. This should be achieved by  habitat restoration and also habitat creation to reverse the decline in protected/notable species populations, and encouraging biodiversity.

Research has shown that more exposure to the natural environment can reduce childhood obesity as well as allowing them to gain a more positive sense of place and improvement in mental health issues.
