Ecosulis has had a great start in 2011 and is delighted to have been awarded two prestigious habitat creation projects in quick succession. Following a competitive tendering process, Ecosulis were selected by the Environment Agency and are now mobilising teams to complete the work within the critical timeframes available.

Ecosulis were appointed by Rewables First to support applications for a full Abstraction and an Impoundment Licences. The scope of our appointment included undertaking an extended Phase 1 habitat, River Corridor, River Habitat and otter surveys. The results of the surveys were summarised and potential impacts and mitigation outlined in a ecological supporting statement.

The delivery of green infrastructure benefits – for example the integration of biodiversity to ensure the linkage of habitats and creation of attractive landscapes - is once again in the spotlight. This article outlines why there is an increasing need to address the issue, including through planning policies, when companies are planning new developments or are performing upgrades to current infrastructure.

With almost a quarter of a million native species to plant, Ecosulis is looking forward to the challenge of creating new and biodiverse habitats at Attenborough Lakes SSSI in Nottingham and at Tilgate Lake, Crawley as part of the ongoing flood alleviation schemes.

Ecosulis attended Ecobuild at Excel in east London on Tuesday 1 March 2011. The conference is one of the world’s largest conferences on sustainable building and renewable energy (micro to medium scale). At the conference we noticed a 'Save our Solar Campaign'. Ecosulis has been involved in the feasibility and planning related work for local solar PV field arrays and has been surprised that the 'greenest government ever' has threatened to cut Feed In Tariff (FIT) for these projects.
