All British species of bats and their places of shelter are protected under UK and European law. It is an offence to kill, injure or disturb a bat or to damage or obstruct access to a place used for shelter or protection by bats. A European Protected Species Licence (EPSL) is therefore required to lawfully undertake development works to a building that is a confirmed bat roost and would otherwise trigger an offence.

Monitoring undertaken by Ecosulis in 2010 throughout England and Wales has confirmed bats have moved into our bat boxes, great crested newts are thriving in our ponds and reptiles are breeding at our carefully selected and enhanced receptor sites.

The launch of Ecosulis' base at the Innovation Centre on the university's Streatham Campus comes as the firm celebrates its 20th anniversary. Heading the office is director Hannah Maben, who was previously based at Ecosulis's Bath headquarters. She has a background in environmental impact assessment, ecological consulting and contracting, and countryside management.

Environmental consultancy and contractor ecosulis is celebrating its 20th anniversary by launching two new departments. The Newton St Loe-based firm, which toasted its birthday with a party at Bath Racecourse earlier this month, is broadening the scope of its business as it rallies following the economic downturn. Experienced consultant and energy sector specialist Rod Ellison has joined the firm as an associate director to set up a new department specialising in environmental impact assessment and planning. The company is also launching a department focusing on environmental research and development.
