Ecosulis were required to clear scrub habitat by hand from the alignment of proposed ditches to prevent potential impacts upon reptiles.  Sections of ditch would then be created in accordance with the Water Vole Conservation Handbook (2006), creating habitat of scalloped berms along each bank to encourage both habitat variation and provide opportunities for burrowing.

While ditches could be naturally colonised by vegetation, it was proposed to plant the ditches to ensure habitat establishes as quickly as possible in preparation for water vole translocation. Due to the abundance of native plants at the site, it was proposed that plugs are taken locally and transplanted to enhanced areas at a density of 12 plugs/m2.

The planting was completed in October 2010 by experienced ecologists and  consisted of native species that have been recorded at the site. Any transplanting of plants was undertaken sensitively to avoid adverse impacts upon existing watercourse features at the site.

Hydroseeding was undertaken as a cost effective method for establishing vegetation, particularly where quicker results are required.

Ecosulis have also been commissioned to erect pole mounted barn owl boxes, to dig two wildlife ponds and to create hibernacula for reptiles.
