Our role: Ecosulis were commissioned to inform the masterplan design for the site, which has not yet been formalised. Initial drawings propose a number of houses and a block of flats, with associated access, car parking and landscaping. The development site currently comprises an outbuilding, an area of hardstanding and a mosaic of unmanaged grassland, tall ruderals and dense scrub.

Ecosulis has been involved with the ecological aspects of the site, undertaking surveys of the proposed development site in July 2009. The Phase 1 survey indicted that the site has suitable habitat to support badger, foraging bats, common reptiles, breeding birds and invertebrates. Following these findings, further monitoring surveys have been recommended and mitigation proposals have been drafted to avoid disturbance to bats, birds, badgers and reptiles during the construction and operational phases of the development. Ecological considerations have also been recommended, including the installation of bat and bird boxes, directional lighting, green corridors, sensitive vegetation clearance and landscape planting schemes.
