Our role: The site is approximately 48ha in size and is situated on the western edge of Peterborough. Orton Pit Special Area of Conservation (SAC) is located to the south east of the site which is proposed for development as a Distribution Park. The planning permission covers the provision of a Distribution Park with five warehouse units and associated roads, parking and landscaping.

Ecosulis has been involved in ecological aspects of the project from initial extended phase 1 habitat survey, followed by protected species surveys for stonewort, badger, bats, amphibians, reptiles, invertebrates and breeding birds. Ecosulis also undertook an arboricultural survey following BS5837 (2005) to ensure appropriate management proposals were adopted for the onsite woodland and trees. An ecological impact assessment was prepared in contribution to a full environmental impact assessment.

Following grant of planning permission Ecosulis prepared a management plan, prepared Natural England licence for great crested newt; installed great crested newt fences and pitfall traps; undertook translocation; created wildlife ponds and are continuing to monitor ponds.
