Case Studies

Ecosulis was appointed earlier this year, following a competitive tender, to support the masterplanning process for new build and refurbishment works at the Taunton Academy, Somerset.  The purpose of our appointment is to provide information on environmental constraints and opportunities and to ensure that ecological data collected for the site remains current.

The project is a great example of the fully integrated service Ecosulis is now able to offer with one of our environmental project managers overseeing and coordinating the work.  It is also a great example of our ability to programme and manage a range of surveys within a sensitive environment, where the safe and professional execution of works is of paramount importance.

The work undertaken by Ecosulis thus far has included a preliminary transport assessment for the scheme considering potential impacts on, and constraints related to the local road infrastructure.  The transport assessment includes detailed information related to five local junction capacities, accident data and also other developments proposed for the locality.

Other studies being undertaken under our appointment include:

• Operational Noise Assessment to BS 4142 – including baseline environmental noise survey
• Ground conditions desk study and investigation
• Topographic survey
• Tree survey and constraints plan
• Consultation with Local Planning Authority
• Protected species surveys and mitigation design

We look forward to supporting the scheme as it moves through the masterplanning process to a full planning application in due course.
