Waddon Ponds is a site to the south of Croydon, popular with local residents but supporting little marginal or aquatic vegetation, a high abundance of wildfowl and suffering from heavy bankside erosion and high water turbidity.

Ecosulis were contracted in 2011 as Principal Contractor in delivering a lake restoration and enhancement scheme of the ponds. The proposals involved the creation of a reedbed and marginal habitats along the majority of lake margins, installation of a boardwalk and viewing platform and providing solutions for anti-goose predation fencing, which were designed and installed sympathetically to the existing wildlife.

The works involved the creation of shallow lake areas by the re-distribution of the silts and creation of revetments. These areas were then planted with 15,000 species of native provenance.

In 2014, Ecosulis were commissioned for phase 2 of the works to enhance a second pond through the use of gabion baskets, coir logs and excavation works.
