In June 2008, Ecosulis was commissioned Barton Willmore to undertake a botanical survey and an invertebrate survey of land at Weston-Super-Mare Golf Course, North Somerset.

The objectives of the surveys was to provide an assessment of the site with respect to flora and invertebrates and to highlight any potential constraints to future development proposals.  These surveys follow advice from the North Somerset Council ecologist, as the proposed development site falls within a local wildlife site, designated for its floral and invertebrate interest.  The proposals involve the creation of eight bunds within the site boundary to increase structural diversity of the golf course.

Weston-Super-Mare Golf Course (55ha) is situated approximately 1km south of the centre of Weston-Super-Mare and lies adjacent to the Severn Estuary.  Dominant habitats present on the golf course include rough and short calcareous grassland, scrub, woodland plantations and wet ditches.
