Cain Blythe

Cain Blythe, CEnv MIEMA MIEEM MSc BSc (Hons): Managing Director
Cain Blythe joined the company in 2002 after working for the public sector and an international multidisciplinary consultancy. Cain is a Chartered Environmentalist and full member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment and the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management.

After leading Ecosulis through an employee buyout in 2007 and developing the consultancy team, Cain is now primarily involved in running the Countryside Management department, working with the Environmental Impact Assessment team, strategic management of company operations and developing partnerships with specialist environmental companies. Cain also runs the Research and Development department with Alan Feest by securing European funding, advancing research into Biodiversity Assessment and developing innovative products, such as our unique biodiverse roof blanket, pollution curtain and floating reedbed systems.

Cain has a wide range of environmental experience including Expert Witness at Public Inquiry, designing and implementing ecological mitigation projects and providing specialist consulting advice.

Hannah Maben

Hannah Maben, BSc (Hons) MIEEM: Director
Hannah Maben joined ecosulis in 2005 as a Project Manager and was appointed as a Director in 2006. Hannah embarked on her career in 2000 as a Wildlife Surveyor before taking on a broader role as an Environmental Consultant within a global multi-disciplinary management consultancy.

Hannah has worked on and managed a number of strategic and project based environmental assessments across a range of sectors throughout the UK, most notably within the residential, education, energy and defence sectors. Hannah is currently managing reserved matters applications and the implementation of ecological mitigation at Wichelstowe.

Hannah is an experienced ecologist and project manager with a good knowledge and practical understanding of planning and legislation relating to ecology and environmental assessment. Hannah thrives on challenges that require reasoning and innovative solutions. Hannah manages the ecological consultancy team alongside Kate Hayward and is responsible for ensuring projects are delivered to meet the needs of clients' and of a high technical standard and quality.

Kate Hayward

Kate Hayward, BSc (Hons) MIEEM: Director
Kate Hayward joined ecosulis in 2002 after graduating from Bath Spa University with a degree in Environmental Biology. Kate has worked on a range of projects and was the lead ecologist on a housing development project that was rated by Natural England as a development that 'could act as an example to other developers'.

Kate was also the lead ecologist for the Magna Park development, Europe's largest warehouse distribution park, contributing to the national reputation of this development with respect to its Eco Template, which will be carried forward to a series of further similar developments Europe-wide.

Kate has over ten years experience in consultancy, carrying out protected species and habitat surveys, and advising on nature conservation issues. She currently heads up the ecology team alongside Hannah Maben, with a particular focus on technical development and quality assurance. Kate lives in Bath with her family.

Roderick Ellison

Roderick Ellison, MSc BSc (Hons) AIEMA: Associate Director – EIA and Planning
Rod Ellison has joined ecosulis to establish what will become a leading EIA project management service. Previously he was worked for one of the UK's largest environmental consultancies and an international power specialist. In recent years Rod has work on some of the country’s largest energy projects.

His approach to projects is to provide strategic advice  based on an understanding of what is reasonably required to secure consent and engage stakeholders. From working very closely with project proponents he has gained a detailed understanding of all stages of project development and thus understands wider project drivers.

He prides himself on identifying practical solutions and in dovetailing environmental commitments into fiscal and contractual requirements.


 

Glyn Onione: Associate Director - Aquatic Engineering

Glyn has over 30 years experience of designing, planning, implementing and maintaining wetland management and creation projects. He has worked on many prestigious projects including those at the 2012 Olympic Site, Attenborough Nature Reserve, Canary Wharf, Abberton Reservoir Enlargement Scheme, Ranworth Broads and Rockland Broads.

Glyn specialises in finding innovative solutions for aquatic problems and brings together all elements to ensure effective project management and advice is given. Glyn is regularly brought into large scale projects to troubleshoot and refine specifications to make them workable. He is able to integrate value and bio-engineered solutions into many schemes and has done so throughout the UK.

Glyn is experienced in most aspects of wetland improvement and construction including habitat improvement, floating reedbeds, bio-manipulation and algae control, wildfowl control, landscape protection and pollution control.


 

Alan FeestAlan Feest, PhD, FCIWEM, CEnv, CSci, PGCE, MIEEM: Scientific Advisor and Non-Executive Director
Alan graduated in Biological Sciences (Ecology) from the University of Exeter in 1979 and obtained his doctorate in Ecology at the University of Bristol in 1984 before spending a further three years in Post-doctoral ecological research. After training as a teacher and two years as Head of Agricultural Science at Fakenham High School in Norfolk, Alan returned to Bristol and was appointed Tutor in Environmental and Health Studies firstly in the Department for Continuing Education and latterly in the Faculty of Engineering. He is currently the Course director of the University of Bristol/CIWEM MSc Water and Environmental Management. Whilst an employee of the University of Bristol Alan was, for five Years, the Founder and Chairman of Bristol Ecological Consultants.
