From a proponent’s perspective, EIA is a tool for gaining planning approval, while building local consensus behind a scheme and developing a conceptual design. Ecosulis views EIA as an integral component of overall project development, and works closely with clients' teams to streamline the EIA process.
Central to the success is consultation and engagement. Ecosulis is experienced in various approaches to stakeholder engagement and consultation gained on national significant projects. Our approach is always project specific but is steered by the belief that direct forms of communication are often the most effective tools. Recent stakeholder engagement work has involved fronting up public meetings, including the drafting and design of literature and iterative material.
A further key skill in environmental assessment is consideration and ranking of alternatives. Often, prior to EIA preparation, our project managers will be involved in various forms of options appraisal. The methodologies adopted are bespoke, but recent examples of work include feasibility and options appraisals for solar photovoltaic development.
