Birds
The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (and amendments) makes it illegal
to intentionally kill, injure, or take any wild bird or their eggs or nests.
Further penalties can occur for offences related to birds listed on Schedule
1 such as barn owl, kingfisher and red kite. These offences include intentional
or reckless disturbance to these birds at their nests, or their dependent
young.
Birds are found in all habitat types and may require some or all parts of
a site throughout different times of the year for breeding, rearing young,
foraging, display or roosting.
