Invertebrates
Some invertebrate species are protected under the Wildlife & Countryside
Act 1981 (as amended), as well as the Conservation (Natural Habitats & c.)
(Amendment) Regulations 2007. In addition, many species of invertebrate are
Priority Species in the UK Biodiversity Action Plan and as such planning
authorities need to consider these species as part of planning applications
and to ensure they are protected in accordance with legislation or biodiversity
action plan targets.
